  6.                         The Anatomy of Love

  9.         "As I gaze upon your face,
  10.         My strong-willed heart begins to race.
  11.         Emotions in captivity,

  15.         Behind my back time lights and flies,

  21.         A  simple poem.  Written  in a moment  of passion and longing  
  22. for a beautiful and captivating woman.  I was in love to describe the
  23. moment in its base  case.  But as I look  back on  this I  ask myself 
  24. what  love really  is?  Is it a brief  physical experience, or a deep
  25. emotional involvement?
  26.  
  27.         Many people in society have different views of this so-called 
  28. "love".  One such view is love as a physical and lustful emotion.  To
  29. be involved  physically with a  woman is love.   Others believe  that
  30. love is that of kinship, totally disassociated from lust and longing.
  31. Still  others believe that  love is a deep  and dark emotion that has
  32. ruled the hearts of  mankind for ages.  Yet others  believe that love
  33. has no place in society today.
  34.  
  35.         With  so  many different  classifications  of love  one  must 
  36. determine  for himself what  love is.  I have  based my definition of
  37. love  off of my  experiences in  life.  I  have been in relationships
  38. of  kinship  or friendship.  I  have seen  the dark  side of love.  I
  39. have been exposed to the physical side of love.  But I find that love 
  40. is much, much more than anything that can be contemplated by mankind.

  42.         As  I continue,  I will  focus my discussion  on love  to the
  43. romantic  aspect of love.  The interchange of love between two people
  44. of the opposite sex.  If you  find my definition of romantic  love to
  45. be lacking or  incorrect then maybe  you should  not be  reading this
  46. file,  as  you can gain  nothing  from it.  For everyone  else, let's
  47. continue...

  49.         In  my poem I describe  emotions that come forth as I look at
  50. the face of my lover.  My heart, which has been weathered to love and
  51. involvements is released  from its  confinement and intertwines  with
  52. that of another.  For the first  time I love with  no reservation.  I
  53. have lost all preception  of time and  order and all I  care about it
  54. whether or not that love is returned.
  55.  
  56.         The question I want to raise is whether or not  this love can
  57. ever be returned fully.  As my relationship with this woman developed
  58. I found myself constantly thinking about her.  Hardly an hour went by
  59. when I did not question what she was thinking about, or  what she was
  60. doing.  My  mind  continually  rolled back to the past and time spent
  61. with her.  I was  lost.  There  was no understanding of this love.  I
  62. was, and to a degree still am, captured by this woman.
  63.  
  64.         As time progressed I fell deeper and deeper into the abyss of
  65. emotional attachment.  The bottom was not in sight and I kept falling
  66. fast.  Unfortunately she was distancing  herself from me.  One of the
  67. most important  things in my  life was slowly  moving  outside of  my
  68. grasp.  I had  no  control over what she was doing.  No matter what I
  69. did  to show her  my love, nor how much I sacrificed for her, I never 
  70. felt an equal reciprocation of my emotions.
  71.  
  72.         And now she's gone...  and all I  can do is ponder what I can
  73. learn  from  the  destruction  of my  heart.   I look  to the future, 
  74. thinking about what lies  ahead of me.  Can I go on?   Maybe.  I will
  75. work hard to  rid myself of this ball and chain that forever drags me
  76. down, but will I ever rid myself of her memory?  Probably not.
  77.  
  78.         What  can I  learn?  I can realize that love will never allow
  79. itself  to be conquered by the feeble attempts of mankind.  It always
  80. has its  own twisted  initiative to  accomplish.  Eventually, mankind
  81. will  be  destroyed by  his desire to caputure that which no cage can
  82. contain.  No one  can  ever  be satisfied  by the creature  that love 
  83. personifies.  Therefore, do  not  expect anything  in the future.  Do 
  84. not hope for the  acceptance and unconditional love that you offer to 
  85. others.  It will  never  be returned  until you  are in the cradle of 
  86. heaven...
